It takes an island

By | Uncategorized | No Comments

As we all know, no one is an island. The fact that we live on a small island means that it is important for us to come together and support each other. The focus of the BIAFF is to celebrate Bowen Island and we are proud to be supported by Bowen-based businesses. This year’s festival could not have happened without the generous support of our sponsors.

A huge thank you goes out to:

Who’s coming to the 2017 BIAFF?

We had great fun sharing stories of adventure at the Vancouver Outdoor Adventure & Travel Show this past weekend. Thanks to our host Tourism Bowen Island, we got to chat with hundreds of people who stopped by to learn more about the abundance of outdoor fun on Bowen Island.

At the show, we hosted a contest to give away two tickets to this year’s Bowen Island Adventure Film Festival taking place on May 27th at the Bowen Island Lodge and the winner is…

Maurizio Palazzo

Congratulations! Thank you to everyone who submitted your name for the draw.

Congratulations to the 2016 BIAFF festival winner

Bob Turner has won the festival prize for his film, “Howe Sound – Vancouver’s Wild Neighbour” showcasing his kayaking adventure on the Howe Sound Sea to Sky Marine Trail.

The festival prize is awarded to the presentation that embodies the spirit of adventure and showcases the spectacular nature of Bowen Island and its surrounds. His film inspired many conversations with future adventurers who want to follow in his foot steps (and paddle strokes) and embark on a similar journey. As well, his film highlighted the need to raise awareness about protecting the precious resources of Howe Sound.

Thank you to Bob for bringing this film to the 2016 BIAFF!

Former Mayor of Bowen Island Bob Turner will be presenting his kayaking trip in Howe Sound. Hobey Walker will be presenting a short slideshow on the local climbing areas of Bowen that he cleaned and bolted.
